Bash: cd: /home/use/downloads: no such file of direcory

This was a hard to find/figure out answer as most examples show accessing the "C" drive as /c/Users/myuser but since it treats the linux. And same for the Downloads and Desktop directories. If you are in the home directory then try to use: cd Desktop. or cd /root/Desktop. Not cd /Desktop. I have this single user on manjaro kde. when I try to cd /Desktop/ it says bash: cd: /Desktop/: No such file or directory on ubuntu.

To make Bash behave case-insensitively, edit your ~/.inputrc (create it if it doesn't exist) and add. set completion-ignore-case on. start a new shell (type bash or close the terminal and open a new one) or source ~/.inputrc, and then try. cd dow Tab. and watch it .  · -bash: cd: Fortran: No such file or directory BenardLenards-MacBook-Pro:g95 BenardLenard$ Here I have navigated into the G95 directory (which does not appear to be case sensitive) and attempted to change directory to the "Fortran Code Files" directory twice without success, while I was successfully able to change directory to the "lib" and "bin.  · I'm using vs code on Windows 10, but I'm using gitbash as my integrated terminal instead of the Windows shell. When using either the "Open in Integrated Terminal" or "Open Root in Integrated Terminal" commands, the directory is not found because the directory slashes are backslashes (Windows-style) instead of forward slashes (bash-style).

What you (probably) really wanted was the relative path from within your users home directory: “Downloads” or “Documents”. So try “cd Downloads” and “cd Documents”. Be aware linux file systems are case sensitive: “Downloads” and “downloads” is not the same item. -bash: cd: Fortran: No such file or directory BenardLenards-MacBook-Pro:g95 BenardLenard$ Here I have navigated into the G95 directory (which does not appear to be case sensitive) and attempted to change directory to the "Fortran Code Files" directory twice without success, while I was successfully able to change directory to the "lib" and "bin.
